About Học quán Sơn Chu
A Vietnamese học quán — a study house — devoted to classical East Asian knowledge: research, teaching, and practical application, founded in November 2020.
What we do
Three activities, in this order of importance:
- Research. Reading classical sources directly rather than repeating summaries. Much of our library is bilingual: the original Chinese text next to a Vietnamese translation.
- Teaching. Structured courses with named instructors, from introductory to advanced.
- Application. Free calculators built to follow the classical rules exactly, so that a student can check a hand calculation against them.
How we treat the subject
We treat classical metaphysics as a cultural and intellectual tradition worth studying carefully — not as fortune-telling, and not as science.
In practice that means three things. We state our sources. We separate the calculation (which is deterministic and can be checked) from the interpretation (which is a reading within a tradition). And we do not tell anyone what to do about their health, their money or their family.

Where are you based?

Do you teach in English?
Courses are currently taught in Vietnamese. The tools and the main pages are being translated into English and Traditional Chinese.
Is this a religious organisation?
No. We study classical texts and their methods; we do not practise or promote any religion, and we do not sell rituals or talismans.
