Teonanacatl: The Narcotic Mushroom of the Aztecs
Giới thiệu
Teonanacatl: The Narcotic Mushroom of the Aztecs, by Richard Evans Schultes, from American Anthropologist, New Series, Vol. 42, No. 3, Part 1 (Jul. - Sep., 1940), pp. 429-443, in 16 pdf pages. Teonanacatl is the mushroom Paneolus campanulatus L. var. sphinctrinus (Fr.) Bresadola. This wonderful account includes a historical study beginning with the 16th-century Franciscan friar Sahagun, and continuing through the 20th-century "rediscovery" of the mushrooms by non-natives. Schultes records the mushrooms' usage in southern Mexico by Mazatec Indians of the District of Teotitlin, Oaxaca, as well as by Chinantecs and Zapotecs in 1938-1939. Uploaded by Robert Bedrosian.
